Job Purpose / Mandate

Reporting to the Controller, the Manager, Billing is a key a member of the finance and broader business team. This role works closely with the transactional accounting team, finance team, collections, vendor services, customer service, sales, and marketing teams to support the business by guiding the billing team through the growing processes at Vista.

The Manager, Billing assists the Controller overseeing key projects of strategic importance to the future of the Company, along with ensuring that our data systems are optimally configured to allow for efficient and effective processing of transactions. The Manager, Billing supports all facets of our data intelligence solutions including databases and business analytics tools.

 

The Manager, Billing oversees all faucets of our billing operations including monthly billing, account changes and communication with Collections and Customer Service teams.

Duties and Responsibilities

Billing Systems Conversion

·       Oversee and support development of new contract booking in accounting system software

o   Provide leadership on conversion of billing into our next generation systems;

o    Collaborate with other members of the team to oversee the process and record daily transactions in new systems;

o   Assist with reporting on billing volumes and transactional volumes; and

o   Other transaction and project support as required.

·       Oversee migration of billing systems for acquired accounts as well as legacy data

o   Documents work clearly to facilitate review by other team members;

o   Works with external service providers and consultants on data conversions; and

o    Calmly works with others in the organization to track down missing information or any issues post conversion.

Billing team oversight

·       Supervision of direct reports on the billing team;

·       Supervise the workflow of the team to ensure productivity and efficiency by matching responsibilities to the strengths of each team member; and support the billing team functions.

·       Collaborate with the collections and customer service team to proactively manage and prevent billing and contracting issues;

·       Support projects to enhance automation of contracting, assignments and tenant agreements;

·       Ensure all monthly billings are completed accurately and efficiently; and

·       Process account changes facilitated through customer service, collections, and new technology related tools.

 

Transaction support and other items

·       Support the Company in any transaction related activity that relate to billing including acquisition of portfolio accounts, new business lines as well as larger scale acquisition activity, including leading any system related conversion or deployment solutions;

And assisting the Controller with any other billing and accounting related projects that may arise on a ad-hoc basis, based on business needs.

Knowledge and Skills

·       Advanced-level understanding of Excel (data management);

·       Degree in business or relevant field;

·       CPA designation is an asset;

·       3-5 years’ experience in progressive roles;

·       Working knowledge of Outlook;

·       Knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (“ASPE”) or International Financial

Reporting Standards(“IFRS”);

·       Experience with presenting clearly and concisely complex information;

·       Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (“SSRS”) and other similar database analysis an asset;

·       Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central or other similar accounting systems;

·       Experience with ERP system implementation is an asset;

·       Ability to analyze complex issues, diagnose multi-dimensional problems, and devise appropriate recommendations; and

·       Qualified to work in Canada on a permanent basis
